Al Manzo’s Mistress Was the REAL Drama Behind the Scenes This Season of RHONJ

23 Sep

If you’ve been watching this season of RHONJ and you find yourself confused and asking questions the show will never answer, you aren’t the only one. After seeing the editing mess on season four, fans assumed that when Bravo cleaned house and got new producers, things would be different. They even took a gamble by keeping the exact same cast. And it was all a massive flop. Fans are more outraged than ever and sick of Bravo’s lies and manipulation. In fact, there’s plenty of behind the scenes drama you never see. That happens every season to an extent. However, this year, Bravo covered up one of the most exciting and dramatic story lines yet. Al Manzo has a mistress and Penny outed him as a cheater on camera.

Al’s been seeing a woman named Jill for years. Caroline is allegedly aware of the situation and simply turns a blind eye. But when one of the new producers tried bringing it up on camera, Caroline shut it down. Or Bravo did, due to their obvious allegiance to her. It depends on who you ask. I also imagine that the situation wouldn’t be ideal considering the pilot they’re filming now about Caroline and her family. So instead, they went with this story line about Melissa cheating on Joe Gorga.

That story was especially flawed. Rather than focusing on whether the rumor is true or not, the focus was on who started the rumor. Which actually doesn’t matter very much to me and many other viewers. If Melissa cheated and it’s true, does it really matter who the first person to say it and expose her is? But I digress…

In order to better understand the way things really played out this season, you should probably check out the actual timeline of events here, because Bravo completely rearranged reality, as they tend to do. Much of this season was left out. Kim D and Jennifer Dalton filmed as much as Brandi did during season two of RHOBH. They were paid friends of the housewives and were invited to every event. They even had their own events that they invited cast members to. It was basically all left on the cutting room floor in favor of focusing on the veterans.

The real drama took place at a Posche Fashion Show held in December 2012. They’d already begun filming the new season, though they didn’t end up airing anything that was filmed before January. RadarOnline even covered the story, in anticipation of it ending up on the show this season. Ultimately, it was completely cut out in favor of focusing on the rumors about Melissa’s infidelity.

While at the Posche Fashion Show last year, Teresa and Kim D ran into Le Chateau Allure salon owner Penny Drossos and probed her for information on which husbands from the hit Bravo show were not being faithful to their wives.

“Penny was a little bit hesitant to speak with them, but Teresa and Kim were relentless in their pursuit of digging up dirt on their fellow housewives. Teresa and Kim rattled off the names of all the men and when they got to Albert Manzo it was clear that was who Penny was suggesting is having an affair. When Penny wouldn’t elaborate Teresa shrugged it off and made a cruel remark about how everybody knows about his affair and inferred that it has been going on for what seems like forever.”

While this article implicates Teresa as the one digging for dirt, surely with some prodding from producers as well, can anyone really blame her? Caroline and Jacqueline had just come after her two months prior to this at season four’s reunion, claiming that Joe Giudice was a cheater. Jacqueline even went so far as to concoct stories that Teresa allegedly told her about catching Joe cheating. If their marriage is up for criticism and ridicule, why is Caroline’s off limits?

Not only did Al’s mistress come up at this fashion show, but it was also the first time that Melissa’s cheating came up. Obviously, the footage never even made it to air. We’ll never get to hear this infamous phone call with Melissa’s ex-boyfriend that was filmed for the show. He confirmed the rumors, but when he was approached to film for the show, he turned it down. Seems like he read the fine print in the contract he was offered and knew that producers would probably manipulate the footage to make him look bad, just like they did to Johnny and Penny this season. Read more about Real Housewives contracts here.

Melissa Gorga‘s ex-boyfriend, Bryan “Bulldog” also stirs up trouble at the fashion show when he reveals via speakerphone that he continued a relationship with her well into her marriage with Joe Gorga.

“While the cameras are rolling, Penny gets out her cell phone and calls Bryan directly, although he goes by ‘Mike’ on the show, and while on speakerphone he validates everything — and then some! ‘Mike’ says that Melissa lied to Joe about why she needed to move in with him after they met. She told him that her female roommate kicked her out and that she had nowhere to go. When in reality, Melissa was living with Bryan and wasn’t even interested in Joe until she saw his house. Once she had him wrapped around her little finger she continued to have a discreet affair with Bryan and he had no problem blowing the lid on it this season.”

Back to Al Manzo’s mistress… Fame Whorgas spoke to an insider who revealed all the drama going on behind the scenes during production this year.

A source exclusively told Fame-Whorgas that Al Manzo has been cheating on Caroline for the past five or six years with a woman named Jill, and Caroline has known about the affair for three or more years, catching them numerous times, even at The Brownstone apartment. The source also says that the affair is an open secret, and in their circle offriends (Al’s, Caroline’s and Jill’s), “everyone knows” about it.

The story line about Al Manzo’s cheating as revealed by Penny continued throughout the season, even if we’ll never see it addressed on camera. The Posche Fashion Show that aired last night and will continue next week as season five comes to a close also featured a confrontation between Caroline and Penny, which I’m sure will be edited and manipulated to make it seem like something entirely different is going on. They can’t air what actually happened and they won’t. Bringing up Jill the mistress wouldn’t make sense at this point.

According to another source  who was present at the infamous Posche Fashion Show, Caroline yelled at Penny Drossos-Karagiorgis, “You did this! This is all your fault! I hope you’re happy about getting in between a brother and sister!”

Penny screamed back, “Fuck you, you old hag! And you’re all wrong! I was trying to protect you because I felt sorry for you!” She brought up Al Manzo’s affair, even mentioning his mistress, Jill, by name, however, this footage did not make the final cut because Caroline ranted and raved until producers agreed to edit it out.

Yet another source, Faux Reality Entertainment, confirms these stories about the behind the scenes drama. Like any issues and allegations that show up on camera, producers were behind the scenes instigating the whole thing in hopes that it would be included this season.

On March 14, 2013, a little bird told Caroline that one of the producers sought to reveal a rumor regarding Albert Sr. Caroline sought the identity of the producer. When no one would reveal who it was, Caroline pointed her finger at Penny.  So the anger and hostility that Caroline & Albert displayed at Miraval in stirring the others was not to “help heal the Gorgas/Giudices” but rather to vilify Penny (as she did Danielle in Seasons 1 and 2).

Caroline Manzo tells Joe Gorga “ Joe, hug your sister because she is standing up for you. You go deal with that bitch.”

Albert Manzo chimes in “You’re not wrong. If the two of you confront those pieces of garbage, when it’s over, you will be united.”

Why do you think Caroline, Jacqueline, Al and Chris seem so angry at Penny and Johnny? There is no tweet from Johnny the Greek claiming that Nicholas does not have autism. It never happened. I’m honestly surprised Bravo didn’t photoshop one to go along with their fictional story. They’ve shown plenty of other tweets onscreen, so trust me, if it happened, they would’ve shown it.

It is a made up story concocted either by producers or the Lauritas/Manzos or both in order to validate their frustrations with Penny and Johnny. Their frustrations and anger are due to Penny revealing Al’s mistress, Jill, on camera- not a tweet. This is why those animals physically attacked Johnny, which we’ll see go down on next week’s episode. Well, we’ll see Bravo’s interpretation of it. We certainly won’t be getting the truth or the whole story. Make more sense now?

UPDATE: Yet another source,, has published a post about Al Manzo’s mistress. Their insider shared details about what we’ll see next week on the season finale and what really happened that night in March at the Posche Fashion Show. Expect to see more media outlets covering this story as it grows. Hopefully it forces Bravo to address it soon.

“Bravo producers repeatedly asked Penny to reveal what she knew about Albert Manzo’s indiscretions. At first, Penny refused to say anything. Caroline was warned by a friend that production wanted to do a storyline about her marriage, but she had already made up her mind that Penny was orchestrating it and there was no changing it.”

“When Penny wouldn’t tell Caroline which producer pushed her to out Al’s affairs, Caroline got very angry. This happened a couple of days before the cast left for Arizona. This explains her reasoning for bringing up the cheating scandal on Melissa’s birthday when everyone was having a good night. Her and Al were pissed they were being targeted and that is why they both insisted someone confront Penny.”

“When Penny said ‘I’m not taking the bullet for everything’ to Melissa and Joe Gorga at Chakra she was actually referring to the Al Manzo cheating scandal, not Melissa. Jennifer Dalton even confronted Caroline about Albert’s infidelities while filming one night. A huge story line that producers have not aired to the public, which shows you what kind of power being Andy’s favorite can give you.”

“Caroline didn’t want to go to the opening of POSCHE 2. Producers pushed her to go to the event. Once she had the fight with Penny she actually ripped off her mic and left angry, saying the producers had lied to her.”

“Penny was recruited by Bravo because she knew information about cast members. Everyone wants to blame Teresa or Penny or Kim D for these cheating rumors, but why is no one holding Bravo accountable for creating this drama?”

ANOTHER UPDATE: Kim D took to Twitter the night of the season finale to confirm the rumors. Click here to see the tweets. E! Online recently expanded on this story, claiming Al’s infidelity is the real reason for her leaving RHONJ to film a show with her kids.

“Caroline wants out because she knows if she stays on the show, it’s only a matter of time before rumors of Al’s cheating becomes a storyline this season. The new girl, Penny, made allegations during filming this past season that Al had a history of cheating, but they were cut.”

“Bravo is very protective of Caroline and wants to keep her happy. So, they’re letting her leave RHONJ and give her a spinoff attempt. The spinoff will be light-hearted and family-oriented, which is the image Caroline wants to protect. But if she stayed on RHONJ, there’s no way she’d be able to keep the rumors about Al cheating quiet and she knows it.”

I read somewhere, I forget what site, that albie and andy have been hooking up since season 1. Makes sense as to why the manzoids are portrayed as saints.

Maybe this is why the Manzos are getting a spinoff? It seems like Bravo filmed a very, very interesting and dramatic season, and the Manzos had it all cut down so they weren’t hurt. I think Bravo really wants the Manzos gone after this.

I agree. usually spinoffs on bravo only last a season and it’s a wrap, except vanderpump. wouldnt surprise me none if the first ep of their series gets good ratings and the ratings decline after if there is no drama what so ever.

Remember Moma Elsa said Andy can not be in a serious relationship because he is keeping a secret, not telling the truth, maybe Andy will someday be Caroline’s son-in-law. Nothing wrong with that but nepotism.

Andy may be Al’s love child… and Caroline with her big heart & all for manboys, brought little Andy into her fold.

Even if it doesn’t get anywhere, if it catches the attention of Bravo to see the amount of support Teresa has and how many people are fed up with Bravo, it will be worth it.

holds Bravo accountable…they troll Twitter and find out stuff then try to bring it to life on the show which would just prove that what we are read in tweets have some truth to it. What Bravo stupidly does, is try to twist so the producers favorites look great and the ones they don’t like come across as idiots. Dumb Bravo was outed at the end of Season 4 for their FAKE crap but still they thought they could fool the viewers again. Well that did not work and they look even more stupid!

Your comment that if Joe’s cheating allegations were okay why aren’t Al’s or something like that….I think it’s interesting that you jumped on one hypocritical point but left out another. It’s obvious that Teresa’s husband is a cheater and likely always has been. His own words basically reveal this…why is it okay for Teresa to comment about Al’s “cheating” yet pitch a fit when someone mentions Joe’s behavior? Joe Guidice showed the world he has no problem betraying Teresa sexually so as an audience, we have a point of reference that we can use when deciding if further accusations (of his stepping outside his marriage) are believable or not. We haven’t seen that with Al so for Teresa to jump on board just seemed like more drama/manipulation coming from Teresa. Maybe Al cheated and maybe Caroline turns away from seeing the truth but anything Teresa would’ve said would make an already negatively viewed person seem even more so. Joe Guidice embarrassed and humiliated his wife on national television and was caught talking to another woman. I felt bad for her, actually. But Jaqueline didn’t make that comment about the secretary out of left field…Teresa bites and Jaqueline bites back. Teresa fans just can’t stand it when she’s given a taste of her own medicine.

On another note…Teresa is her own worst enemy. When you lie, manipulate, and show us, repeatedly, that you’re jealous, vindictive and unreliable we’re bound to assume the worst in you (Teresa). She and Joe made this bed and now that they’re forced to lie in it, anyone who doesn’t like them is somehow kicking them when they’re down. Hardly. I was kicking Teresa seasons ago when I saw who she really was. It’s not my problem that she’s a bad person and I’m smart enough to see it.
