RHOA: Text-Gate Continues With Apollo & Kenya’s Conflicting Stories

There are many things I love about this season of RHOA, but watching Kenya go from fabulous, twirling beauty queen to trifling, homeless home-wrecker has been one of the best parts. Last week we watched as local law enforcement ensured that she left the home she was kicked out of and now we’ll get a peek at the Motel 6 she’s stuck shacking up in now.

 

But first, she’s meeting up with Kandi at Sky Gym. She arrives first and the instructor leads her into the room where women are twirling from the ceiling hanging by sheets. Not one to be shy, Kenya climbs on up and busts it open in the air, stallion booty on display for all to see. While her ass is dangling from the roof, Kandi walks in.

Kandi immediately makes it clear that she won’t be participating. She claims she twisted her ankle the other day and fell out of her high heels. What are you doing to make you fall out of your shoes? Anyway, Kandi’s not here for twirling in the sky. She’s here to get to the bottom of Kenya and Apollo’s texts.

Kandi takes Kenya outside and asks her why she would message Phaedra’s husband after her and Phaedra had a falling out. Kenya says that there are a lot of people saying a lot of things. Kandi gives her a look and then Kenya goes to grab her phone. She’s anxious to show the messages to Kandi and clear her name.

Apollo initiated the conversation and there wasn’t anything sexual in the texts. However, Kandi calls out Kenya for using the word “babe” when messaging Apollo. Kenya claims it’s just friendly. Kandi insists that Apollo insinuated that there’s more to this story, which he definitely did at last season’s reunion. Kenya’s conveniently cleared her memory of that incident.

Now Kenya’s complaining that Kandi is giving her attitude. She gripes that everyone always wants to make her out to be the bad guy. Kenya is clearly the victim in this situation.

 Porsha’s headed to therapy with Dr. Blake, the same woman who counseled her and Kordell last season. Dr. Blake asks her if she was just going through the motions the last time she was in her office. She says Porsha was almost acting like a robot. Porsha says she was worried about what she would have to deal with back at home later.

Dr. Blake says that she ended up playing a role and she lost her voice. Porsha says she signed up to play a role. Interesting. She continues, explaining how she thought her and Kordell could “fake it till they make it.” She discusses filming last season and how she got upset because the housewives told her Kordell was controlling. They saw through her façade.

 Dr. Blake says Porsha was pissed off because people told her the truth. She starts digging around and asking Porsha about their finances. Porsha’s name wasn’t on the cars, house or bank accounts. Nothing. Dr. Blake says it’s just like if she was hired help. She tells her that it’s not healthy to make herself so dependent on someone else. Porsha thought that’s what being a wife was. Dr. Blake says it sounds more like Kordell was a father.

Now we learn that Porsha lost her father at 17. He died and she was looking for a replacement. She wanted a father figure in her husband. Porsha doesn’t seem to recognize that this is strange. Dr. Blake asks her why she wanted to marry him and Porsha says she wanted a husband and security. No mention of love or connection.

Porsha says she wanted children and tells Dr. Blake a story about how she was embarrassed to admit to her doctor that she couldn’t get pregnant because her husband wasn’t trying. Probably because he likes dudes. Tears are streaming down Porsha’s face as she continues mourning her marriage.

Dr. Blake notices Porsha’s still wearing her wedding ring and asks her who’s really holding on. Porsha says she wants to keep it on until her marriage is finally finished. Let’s hope she can get this messy situation cleared up by the end of this season. We’ll have to hear about it constantly until then anyway…

NeNe’s stopping by Cynthia’s house to see how she’s recovering from her surgery. Cynthia’s still posted up in her bed. In full make-up. In NeNe’s talking head, she describes how Cynthia would be bleeding while the two of them were out shopping at Saks and Neiman’s.

NeNe’s thrilled she got the surgery and now she’s trying to encourage her to get out of bed and hang out. Randomly, Kandi calls. She asks how Cynthia’s doing, tells her she’s also had the same fibroid surgery before, then invites Cynthia and NeNe to a meal to celebrate and support Porsha. You know, because we’ve hardly talked about her divorce this season…

Kandi’s out for frozen yogurt with Phaedra to talk about “text-gate.” First, Phaedra reveals that she’s about to graduate from mortuary school. Thank god! Phabulous Phunerals By Phaedra is on its way. I’m putting it in my will that she has to bury me and I’ll haunt my family and friends if they don’t honor my wishes.

In her talking head she says, “My schedule right now is babies, dead people and my study group. I really don’t have time to hang out with friends. Or really even my husband, and we live together.”

Kandi quickly moves along to telling her about the meeting with Kenya. Phaedra says Kenya offered Apollo fellatio. Kandi says she saw the texts. She says Kenya claims they never met or saw each other; those texts were all that happened.

Phaedra claims that Apollo left his hotel, the Beverly Wilshire, in L.A. because Kenya was being crazy and kept coming up to his room. She claims he told Phaedra about it that night and changed hotels. Kandi actually doesn’t even seem surprised to hear a completely different story. Like she was already expecting Kenya to be lying.

In her talking head Phaedra says, “I don’t want to put Kenya on blast but, Kenya knows that she knows that I know that she went for my husband beyond those text messages. But it did not work, clearly, because Apollo is not looking for an old beauty queen with scrambled eggs. When he wants that he goes to the Waffle House.”

Cynthia’s meeting with the Bailey Boys at her house briefly before her daughter, Noelle, comes downstairs to talk to her. She’s looking gorgeous and exactly like her daddy, Leon Robinson. Also, she’s wearing a lot of make-up. That face is beat.

Noelle asks to borrow Cynthia’s credit card to buy schoolbooks.  Cynthia thinks her daughter’s trying to hustle her for money. Then she asks her who she was talking to on the phone earlier. It was a boy named Arthur.

Noelle says he’s her boyfriend and, though embarrassed, admits they’ve kissed. Cynthia is stunned and tells Noelle to talk to her and come to her and keep her in the loop. She says she needs the “blow by blow.”

It’s time for the Porsha party! Ladies luncheon? Are we mourning her divorce? I’m not sure what’s going on but it’s ok because no one else seems to either. They’re getting food and drinks and I think that’s enough.

Kandi’s the first one there, because she organized the meal. Cynthia and NeNe arrive, followed by Phaedra. They order empanadas and ceviche.

Finally, Porsha comes in. She greets everyone and says she doesn’t want to be a Debbie Downer, though they’re prepared to make her into one anyway. Kandi immediately asks about her divorce and the house full of boxes she saw the other day. Porsha tells them all how he packed up her stuff and shipped it to her mom’s place.

Porsha couldn’t have friends over to her house. Not even her sister. That admission shocks everyone at the table. They think that should’ve been the biggest red flag that there was something wrong with the marriage. NeNe says she would no longer support her ever trying to get back together with Kordell.

Porsha pauses for a moment, to tell them that she understands why the situation is confusing. She admits that her “picture perfect” marriage from last season was a fraud. A lie. She never had any money. He wouldn’t share with her or let her spend without him around. Not even grocery money.

In NeNe’s talking head, she describes what she would do if she were in that situation. “Better you than me, honey, cause I would break out that cash and Kordell would be running around town looking for me. I would be gone, and his credit card would be to’ed up.”

Porsha says her world had gotten so small the way Kordell controlled everything and she apologizes for pushing the housewives away and having a wall up last year. She blames it on the situation she was stuck in. She was acting for the cameras and she wasn’t being authentic. They all cheers to “the real Porsha!”

Kenya’s grocery shopping. “I’m typically not in grocery stores.” I’m not sure where she’s cooking, because she’s homeless. Even she admits, “I don’t know why I’m even buying this. I don’t have a place to put it!” She’s giggling as she tells this to the extremely uncomfortable cashier.

NeNe’s driving through the ghetto headed to Kenya’s room at the Motel 6. Kenya greets her, acting as if nothing about this situation is unusual. NeNe is stunned at her living conditions. But mostly the white refrigerator.

Kenya’s trying to explain it away to NeNe, blaming her “crazy old landlord” for the situation. “Who knew we were gonna be twirling back to the hood, honey?”

NeNe’s dragging Kenya to meet with her realtor to look at new places. In the ride there, she asks Kenya about her new boyfriend. Kenya reveals he’s Nigerian and calls him her African sweetheart. Well, it seems like he’s treating her well, leaving her holed up in a cheap hotel room in the hood. If that’s not spoiling someone like a queen, I don’t know what is!

NeNe does an impression of an African accent and says that the men there are too aggressive for her. We all know from watching her and Gregg interact that she likes to take the lead and be in charge.

The ladies arrive to look at the condo that Kenya can never possibly afford. She’s going to have to attract several more customers wealthy suitors to be able to pull off buying a place like this.

The space is 4,000 square feet. Kenya says she can’t see herself living in less than 5,000. It’s simply too small for her. She needs the space so she can hang from ceiling and do crazy bedroom gymnastics.

In her talking head, NeNe says Kenya hasn’t sold enough videos to live in this condo. The realtor gives her the price, $1.65 million and back in her talking head, Kenya is complaining, as expected.

She says that for that much she could go to Buckhead and get a place with a gate and a pool. Like Phaedra’s house? Kenya dismisses the condo she can’t afford and calls it a “box.” Then, she twirls off back to her hotel room in the hood.

Phaedra and Apollo are out for a dinner date to discuss text-gate. Probably the first time they’ve had a meal together in months. Apollo seems grateful for the scheduled and forced date and tells Phaedra he isn’t getting enough attention from her. She thinks he’s jealous of the attention their sons are getting. She also seems more interested in her food than her hunky, lonely husband.

Apollo reveals a letter for Phaedra he received. She was subpoenaed to appear in Conya Dillon (the “crazy landlord”)’s case against Kenya, supposedly to be a character witness. Phaedra doesn’t care to involve herself in the case and quickly moves the conversation along to her frozen yogurt date with Kandi. She’s ready to talk about text-gate and Apollo’s alleged indiscretions.

Apollo says he didn’t cross the line, Phaedra says he did. She tells him he shouldn’t be texting her friends. He says she initiated it and he “doesn’t recall” being the one to contact Kenya after her falling out with Phaedra. He blames Phaedra for bringing her around in the first place.

She tells him not to ever do it again and he tells her not to threaten him. He tells her he’s not going to ignore Kenya if he sees her out socially. The conversation escalates and he starts laughing at it, which pisses off Phaedra even more. Apollo tells his wife, “If I wanted to smash it, errr, uhh, if I wanted to sleep with Kenya, I could’ve slept with Kenya.”

He’s says she’s wanted him since day one. He states very firmly, “I saw her in L.A.,” which is more than the few texts Kenya claims were all that happened. Phaedra continues to prod him for details so she can get to the bottom of things and he continues to get defensive.

I’m not buying what Apollo’s selling. He can’t get his story straight. Phaedra’s no idiot either. Apollo needs to remember that he’s married to an attorney. She can see right through his fibs and I think most viewers can too. Something happened in L.A. at the Beverly Wilshire.

Kenya saw this episode and got very defensive. This week she went public with the texts she showed Kandi.

Moore tells TMZ she and Nida did text each other — but there was nothing sexual, and they never met up. She gave us screen shots of what she claims was their text convo last October. Moore says Apollo’s BS is great fodder for the show, but she’s not down with lying … and adds she wants “to put an end to these false and defaming speculations and judgments against me.” 

Apollo responded to TMZ’s post with his own story, which doesn’t really makes much sense and leaves a lot to be desired. There are still so many questions about text-gate and something clearly happened at the Beverly Wilshire.

Apollo Nida definitely didn’t text Kenya Moore for sex last year because he tells TMZ, he just wanted to talk business. Moore and Apollo have both denied any wrongdoing and now Nida claims he only struck up the convo to propose that the two collaborate on a workout tape. The tandem workout DVD never got off the ground because Phaedra put the kibosh on the joint venture before Nida ever had a chance to make his proposal.

Umm, that’s the storyline from last season. And, unless I’m confused, this Beverly Wilshire incident occurred after Phaedra and Kenya had their falling out when the proposed workout video fell apart. So his story doesn’t make any sense. Not that Kenya’s answers a lot of questions either.

No one other than Apollo and Kenya will ever really know what happened at the Beverly Wilshire. But apparently we’re going to spend a good chunk of this season hearing various different versions of the story. When is Andy going to start giving lie detector tests at the reunion? For now, we’ve got a few texts, which I’ve included below.
